Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It aims to release tension through deep strokes alternated with localised pressure. It is both corrective and therapeutic. While classic massage therapy is used for relaxation, manipulating the soft structure of the body, Deep Tissue Massage tends to focus on a specific problem working at a deeper level.

Who is it good for - Deep Tissue Massage is often used to treat people who are recovering from accidents and for sports injuries. It will particularly help in the case of:

  • Chronically tense and contracted areas (stiff necks, lower back tightness, sore shoulders)
  • Muscle pain and spasm, aching joints
  • Post-injury soreness (e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury)
  • Limited mobility
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Postural problems
  • Ostheoarthritis / Fibromyalgia

How does it work - A Deep Tissue Massage is both powerful and vigorous to get to the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It is used to release chronic patterns of muscle tension in the body by using slower strokes with a more direct deep pressure (elbow, forearm and knuckles), along with frictions applied across the grain of the muscles.

As an experienced massage therapist, all of my treatments are carried out in a professional manner. Full nudity is not required and during treatments only areas being worked upon are exposed while modesty is maintained with the use of towels or clothing as appropriate to respect your privacy at all times.

Your first visit will include an additional 10 minutes consultation prior to the session in order to ascertain your health and the treatment outcomes you want to achieve. For all the visits, a feedback and aftercare advice will be provided at the end of each treatment. Please note that all information about clients is held in strictest confidence.

What is it good for -

  • Frees joints from pain
  • Shortens recovery time from muscular strain and injury
  • Breaks up and eliminates scar tissue
  • Stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable
  • Loosens muscle and connective tissue
  • Increases joint mobility and flexibility
  • Increases blood circulation without increasing heart load

Deep Tissue Massage may cause some soreness for a short while after the treatment but after a few days will leave you feeling better than ever.
